Joey Sykes

JOEY SYKES is an American songwriter, producer, singer, multi-instrumentalist. His diversity, as well as his accomplishments,  are very impressive. His first big break, came  as guitarist/co-writer of a band called Coward (Elektra records). The album was produced by the late, great Jerry Finn (Green Day, Blink 182, Butch Walker etc.). It was during this time, that he learned a lot about making hit records, while recording at such legendary studios as Conway, Bearsville, Sear Sound, RPM, Sound City, and many others.

Sykes is also a session guitarist and is hired to sing background vocals on various albums. After that, Joey was guitarist for Meredith Brooks (I'm a Bitch"). While in Meredith Brooks, he got to fulfill many bucket list type goals, like playing Madison Square Garden, The Staples Center (opening up for The Eurythmics), Jay Leno (twice), Queen Latifah show, Top of the Pops, Ryman Auditorium and many more. Joey also played guitar for Capitol records Tommy Henriksen , EPIC records ON (Ken Andrews), and some others.

During all this time , Joey was (and is) bulking up his song catalog, and placing songs with an assortment of artists (full list of song placements on, and on such TV shows as Nashville, Ghost Whisperer, What About Brian, Everwood, The Hills, Laguna Beach and many more. His song "Human, Being Human" was featured in the film Daddy Day Camp (Cuba Gooding Jr.), and more recently his song "Green Paper Burns" is in the movie  The Purge (Election Year).
Sykes was also in the movie Across the Universe, playing the guitarist, on the rooftop, during the finale scene. In 2013, he began writing songs for legendary classic rock band, The Babys and shortly after accepted an offer to be their second guitarist. All of these accomplishments and and previous bands has led him to being a founding member of Honey River. Joey's love for harmonies, melodies, and great songs shine very bright through the sound of Honey River.
